The Church Of Celebration
Not Being Afraid of Seeking the Depth of God 11•30•25
In this message, Apostle Gregory Kelley invites believers to push past surface level Christianity and pursue the deeper places of God with courage and hunger. The sermon highlights that spiritual depth is never earned through performance but received through relationship. Using the encounter between Jesus and the rich young ruler in Mark 10:21 to 27 NKJV, Apostle Kelley shows how fear, possessions, and self reliance can keep us from fully surrendering to Christ. Jesus lovingly exposed the ruler’s heart, reminding us that true depth requires full dependence on God.
Apostle Kelley then walks listeners through the story of Zaccheus in St. Luke 19:1 to 10 CEV, a man who was despised, corrupt, and known as a chief tax collector. Scripture teaches he made his wealth by charging people more than required. St. Luke 3:13 NKJV reinforces that tax collectors who became rich were often thieves. Yet his name meant “pure one,” showing that God always sees beyond reputation and labels. When Zaccheus climbed the tree to see Jesus, he modeled the first step in seeking depth: desire. Jesus responded to that desire by calling him by name, entering his house, and transforming his life.
